Honesty Is the Light

We do not need to drown the Darkness with Light. In fact, when we attempt to shut out the darkness with positivity, there is nowhere to hide. To evolve requires we honor what is and meet life and ourselves where we are, in the smallest and most incremental of ways.

How do we do this?

Implicit moment to moment honesty.

When we are in Acceptance and are willing to face what is, we are empowered. Acceptance and Willingness allow you to bring peace to the darkest corners and places. In simply meeting our darkness, there is light. There is nothing we need to do. Or Be. All that is required is Honesty. This simply means accepting where we are. Broken down, this means no longer lying to yourself. After all, only you know the truth… right?

There is an incredible amount of energy pouring down to the earth right now. And you can begin to tap into it by being truthful and honest with yourself in absolutely everything you do. This means with yourself. And with others. Honesty can take you to your knees. And you can heal at a rate that will be astonishing. Simply by being honest with the person in the mirror. And with the people you love.

What honesty looks like

Moment to moment honesty is not one big confession. It is small. It is incremental. It looks like:

Saying “I am tired” when you are tired.
Saying “no” when you mean no.
Admitting, even just to yourself, “I am not ok today.”
Noticing when you reach for the phone, the glass of wine, the to-do list, and asking what you are running from.

Make no mistake, this is not about wallowing. Honesty does not mean staying in the dark. It means turning on the light in the room you are actually standing in, rather than pretending you are somewhere else. When we stop pretending, all of the energy we were spending holding it together is suddenly free. That is where the healing comes from. The darkness was never the problem. The hiding was.

A practice for today

I challenge you to try this today. Find a quiet place. Close your eyes. Breathe. Ask yourself, “What is true for me right now?” Don’t fix it. Don’t judge it. Simply let it be true. If something heavy comes up, breathe into it. As you breathe out, release the energy it has taken to keep it hidden, and root down into the earth.

Then choose one small, honest moment with someone else. Just one.

“In meeting my darkness, I find my Light.”

Namaste,

Sarah ❤
